About this perennial

Lythrum Salicara, known in Dutch as Grote Kattenstaart, is a strikingly beautiful plant with tall purple flower stalks. This species naturally occurs along the banks of ponds or lakes. It is therefore a thirsty plant that requires a lot of water. Lythrum Salicara blooms from June to August and grows to about 110 centimeters in height.

CARE

Before planting, mix some fresh soil or compost into the ground for nutrient-rich soil. In spring, remove any leftover leaves and stems and provide some organic fertilizer.

Divide the plant every 4-5 years and replant the young parts into the ground to keep the plant healthy.

Lythrum Salicaria prefers a location in the sun to partial shade. Do you quickly have wet soil in your garden or poorly draining soil? Then this perennial is for you, because Purple Loosestrife thrives in marshy soil. Naturally, this plant prefers to grow on the bank of a pond or lake.

Delivery

Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.

Are you also ordering peonies in pre-order in the same order? Then your order will be delivered in two packages. The peonies will be shipped between October 12 and October 25, 2026. You can choose a shipping week for the peonies during checkout; this will be indicated under the shipping method.
