About this perennial

Lupine The Chatelaine produces beautiful pink flowers with a white standard. The Lupine is a typical plant for an English cottage-style garden. This perennial produces tall, large flowers up to 100 cm. A feast for the eyes and a plant you will enjoy for a long time, because with proper care, the Lupine blooms twice a year.

CARE

You can enjoy the flowers longer if you remove spent blooms directly from the plant. This way, a second bloom can appear in August. Depending on its location in the garden, it may be necessary to support the plant with a support ring to keep it upright.

If you want to prune the Lupine, leave up to 10 centimeters of the flower stalks and leaves on the plant in late autumn. You can also leave them, then remove the spent branches in early spring. Also, give some organic fertilizer to stimulate growth.

Lupine is moderately hardy down to -15 degrees Celsius. Cover the plant with a mulch layer of bark or leaves during severe frost.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

A well-draining soil is important. Lupines also grow very well in somewhat poorer soil or slightly acidic soil. Add some fresh garden soil when planting for nutrients. Choose a spot with some airflow. The plant can suffer from a fungal disease if it cannot dry properly after a rain shower. Furthermore, the plant can grow well in full sun or partial shade.

Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.
