Why is autumn the best time to move plants?
In autumn, the soil is still warm from summer and perennials are in their dormant phase; the flowers and leaves have died off, and all energy has returned to the rhizomes. When you plant these energy-packed plants in warm soil and can take advantage of the free autumn rain, your garden plant gets the perfect start for spring.

It is no longer as widely known that the best time to add perennials to your garden is in the autumn. By annually assessing where you want to add or replace perennials and doing this in the autumn, you prepare your garden for a wonderful spring and summer full of plants and beautiful blooms. Perennials are currently being harvested and can be easily ordered online. Also check garden centres or local nurseries for perennials. The plants may not look their best above ground now as they are entering their dormant phase, but remember that it's all about the rhizomes in the ground. These will produce new leaves and flowers in the spring. In garden centres, you can sometimes find spent perennials in the clearance section; be sure to take a look there too.
Can I still plant perennials in my garden in spring?
Yes, absolutely. In early spring, plants have not yet developed leaves and can also be added to your garden, but be careful of frost that can still occur treacherously late in spring at night. Is it July or August when you want to get started in your garden? Due to the heat, it is difficult during this period to ensure that new plants get enough water, and there is a greater chance that they will not survive. In that case, it is better to wait until autumn to add new plants, this way you can be sure that your plants get the best start in your garden.

For example, our peonies are currently being harvested from the field where they have been in the ground for two years. Then they are sorted, and the plants are ready to be shipped to your garden.
