About this perennial

Origanum vulgare 'Hortorum', or Common Marjoram, is a beautiful plant with a delightful scent. It is best planted at the front of a border or as ground cover among other plants. Its leaves have a wonderful herbaceous aroma, and the plant produces purplish-pink flowers between July and October. Butterflies and bees love this plant. Origanum can also be planted in a rock garden or on sandy soil. The first mention of this plant dates back to the fourth century AD.

CARE

Apply some organic fertilizer in the autumn. Also apply some organic fertilizer then to stimulate growth and flowering.

Divide the plant every 4-5 years and replant the young divisions to keep the plant healthy.

SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Plant the Origanum in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. The plant prefers to be on the dry side rather than wet. It can also be planted well in a rock garden. The plant is very winter hardy.

Delivery

Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.

Are you also ordering peonies in pre-order in the same order? Then your order will be delivered in two packages. The peonies will be shipped between October 12 and October 25, 2026. You can choose a shipping week for the peonies during checkout; this will be indicated under the shipping method.
