About this perennial

Melica ciliata is a beautiful grass species that produces lovely, white to pale brown plumes. It is an early-flowering grass that blooms between May and July, making it a wonderful addition to your cutting garden. The cheerful flowers are also very charming in a border during spring. They sway with the wind, making them a joyful eye-catcher.

CARE

In the autumn, give some organic fertilizer. In spring, prune back significantly, to 5-10 cm above the ground. Also then, give some organic fertilizer to stimulate growth and flowering.

Divide the plant every 4-5 years and replant the younger parts to keep the plant healthy.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Plant Melica ciliata in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. The plant prefers to be a little too dry rather than wet. It can also be planted well in a rock garden. The plant is very hardy. Only prune back in spring. If you do this before winter, you will damage the plant.

Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.

Are you also ordering peonies in pre-order in the same order? Then your order will be delivered in two packages. The peonies will be shipped between October 12 and October 25, 2026. You can choose a shipping week for the peonies during checkout; this will be indicated under the shipping method.
