About this perennial plant

The striking Dicentra (Lamprocapnos) Spectabilis Alba is also known as bleeding heart due to its unique flowers. The most well-known Dicentra species has pink flowers, but this beautiful variety with white flowers is less known.

This perennial plant adds color to that shady corner in your garden. Dicentra is also an early bloomer, so you can enjoy this lovely plant from March onwards. The flowers grow on hanging stems and the plant reaches up to 1.25 meters high.

CARE

Dicentra needs plenty of water, but make sure the plant doesn't get wet feet and is in well-drained soil. <!--en--><!--en-->To enjoy the plant for a longer period, it is important to divide the plant every 3 to 4 years. In winter, remove the plant from the ground. Cut the plant into pieces with a clean knife, removing the old plant material and keeping and replanting the newer cuttings.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Preferably do not plant the Dicentra in a pot. The plant will flower, but overwintering in a pot does not always go well. The plant needs some space as it will grow larger each year, up to 50 centimeters wide. However, you should divide the plant every 3-4 years to keep it healthy, so you start with a smaller plant again. Choose a spot in the garden with shade. The plant does need some sun. Dicentra adds color and form to a border; combine it there for a beautiful effect with plants with large leaves, such as the Hosta.
