About this perennial

Sanguisorbia officinalis is commonly known as Great Burnet. This perennial flowers abundantly from June to August, producing beautiful red flowers on sturdy stems. It creates a wonderful effect in your border and is also perfect as a cut flower. Plant Sanguisorbia in sun or partial shade, and it will produce an abundance of flowers all summer long.

CARE

In summer, burnet can suffer from dry spells. So, give the plant enough water when the summer is very dry. In winter, however, it's important that the plant doesn't have wet feet; it doesn't like to stand in a puddle of water. In autumn, the flowers die off and you can leave the remaining stems on the plant. In early spring, you can remove these if necessary. Then, also give some organic fertilizer to stimulate growth. The plant is very hardy.

Plant Sanguisorba in partial shade or full sun and in reasonably moist, but well-drained soil. It is a beautiful plant for your border that also attracts pollinators. The plant quickly produces many flowers.

Delivery

Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.

Are you also ordering peonies in pre-order in the same order? Then your order will be delivered in two packages. The peonies will be shipped between October 12 and October 25, 2026. You can choose a shipping week for the peonies during checkout; this will be indicated under the shipping method.
