About this perennial

Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' is one of the most famous species of coneflower. This perennial originates from North America and received its name in 1938. Since then, the plant has become beloved worldwide for its cheerful flowers, abundant and long-lasting bloom, and ease of care. This perennial will not disappoint and is also indispensable in a cutting garden.

CARE

Cut back spent flowers immediately to encourage more blooms. In autumn, leave the dead stems and leaves on the plant to help protect it in winter. Also protect the plant with a mulch layer of wood chips or leaves. The dead parts can be removed in early spring; cut back to 10 centimetres above the ground. Also apply some organic fertiliser to stimulate new growth.

After three years, it is wise to dig up the plant in autumn and cut off the young shoots that grow on the outside of the plant and replant them. This way you keep the plant healthy.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Plant the Rudbeckia in a sunny spot in the garden with well-drained soil. Mix some compost or fresh garden soil into the ground before planting for some extra nutrients. <!--en--><!--en-->The Rudbeckia also grows well in a large pot or planter. In warm weather, make sure the plant does not dry out too much, as this happens more quickly in a pot. Potted plants are also more susceptible to frost and need protection sooner.
