Of course, you want to enjoy your homegrown flowers for as long as possible. With a few clever tips from our growers, you can keep your flowers beautiful for a long time!
Cleaning
Bacteria are the biggest danger to your flowers. Preferably choose a glass vase, as it is easy to clean. In other materials, bacteria can easily remain in small grooves or cracks. Use bleach or a more natural alternative to thoroughly clean the vase.
Water temperature
Regular cold or lukewarm water is fine. Do not choose warm water, as this makes it easy for bacteria to grow.
It may sound strange, but add a few drops of bleach to the water and then a little bit of flower food.
Cutting at an angle
Cut the stems of the flowers at an angle just before you put them in the water. The flower absorbs water through this cut surface. Do not cut the flower at too sharp an angle, as this will cause the flower to die off more quickly.
Maintenance
To continue enjoying your flowers for a long time, it is important to change the water after about 5 days. This way, bacteria don't stand a chance. Start by cleaning the vase again and also cut a new piece off the stem for a fresh cut surface, allowing the flower to absorb water properly again.
