What exactly do the terms semi-shade, shade, and sunny mean, and how do you know if you're choosing the right spot for your plant? For your garden, patio, or balcony, it's always useful to have an overview. This way, you'll always choose the right plants for your garden!

Map out your garden

When you want to plant a garden or a part of your garden, it's smart to write down exactly how much sun your garden gets. This can vary in different parts of your garden. Roughly sketch your garden or the area you want to fill on paper and mark the areas with sun, semi-shade, and shade.

The right description

Choose a day in spring or summer when you are home a lot and it is very sunny. This way you can clearly see which parts of your garden get sun and which don't. Keep an eye on where the sun falls and how many hours it stays there. Divide your garden as follows:
Shade: up to 2 hours of sun
Semi-shade: up to 4 hours of sun
Full sun: From 4 hours of sun

Always the right choice for your garden

It takes some work, but it's a big advantage once you've mapped out your garden this way. You can always use this overview when choosing new plants for your garden. In our shop, you'll also find a description with each plant indicating its preferred location in your garden.
