About this perennial

Digitalis Purpurea is known in the Netherlands as Foxglove. It is an indigenous perennial; a plant that naturally occurs in our country. The purple, bell-shaped flowers grow in clusters on a stem that can reach up to one meter in height. Foxglove blooms from June to July and attracts plenty of bumblebees, bees, and butterflies to your garden.

CARE

Foxglove is very frost-hardy and blooms easily, though it doesn't always bloom in the first year. In spring, give it some organic fertilizer to stimulate growth and remove any old leaves or stems that remain.

If you cut back the flowers completely after blooming, a second flush of flowers often appears. Under the right conditions, Digitalis Purpurea can spread itself throughout your garden by self-seeding. If you want to prevent this, it's important to deadhead the spent flowers in time.

Wear gloves when picking the flowers, as they are poisonous.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Plant Foxglove in a spot with partial shade, for example next to a tree or shrub. Ensure nutrient-rich and well-draining soil. Before planting, mix some fresh soil or compost into the ground for a nutritious soil. Digitalis Purpurea can withstand some drought better than wet feet.

We reuse rainwater that we have collected in our basin. We use pots made from recycled material. Every year we take steps towards more sustainable cultivation. Our P9 plants are available directly from stock. You can indicate in the shopping cart when you would like to receive your order.
