About this perennial

Rudbeckia triloba 'Prairie Glow' is a coneflower with dark orange petals tipped with yellow. This variety can grow quite tall, reaching 100-140cm. Its striking flowers add a lot of color to your border or to your own picked bouquets. This perennial has become loved worldwide for its cheerful flowers, exuberant and long-lasting bloom, and its ease of care. Additionally, they attract many bees to your garden.

CARE

Remove spent flowers immediately to encourage more blooms. In autumn, leave the dead stems and leaves on the plant to help protect it in winter. Protect the plant further with a layer of mulch, such as wood chips or leaves. The dead parts can be removed in early spring; cut them back to 10 centimetres above the ground. Also, apply some organic fertiliser to stimulate new growth.

After three years, it is advisable to dig up the plant in autumn and cut off the young shoots that grow on the outside of the plant and replant them. This helps to keep the plant healthy.
SPOT IN THE GARDEN

Plant the Rudbeckia in a sunny spot in the garden with well-drained soil. Mix some compost or fresh potting soil into the ground before planting for some extra nutrients.

Rudbeckia also grows well in a large pot or planter. In warm weather, make sure the plant does not dry out too much; this happens faster in a pot. Potted plants are also more susceptible to frost and need protection sooner.
